If you’ve ever tried to connect a 3.3V device to a 5V system, you know what a challenge it can be. This bi-directional logic level converter is a small device that safely steps down 5V signals to 3.3V or steps up 3.3V signals to 5V. It also has a built in 5V to 3.3V (100mA) regulator to make things easier in certain situations.
The on-board regulator can only be used to step down 5VDC to 3.3VDC, so you will always need to connect 5V to the ‘AVCC’ pin. The ‘BVCC’ pin can then be used to supply your 3.3V circuitry (As long as it draws less than 100mA), or just left as is. All that’s left is to connect the ground and signal pins and you’re good to go.
